Superbowl Day 1

Jacksonville is reeling from Superbowl XXXIX this weekend. This relatively little city is spread out over hundreds of square miles. It takes forever to get from one place to another. Don't even think about trying to get a cab. The wait is 90 minutes, and it's not guaranteed to arrive. There are parties everywhere. We had our dinner in Jax Beach last night, then crashed the Nike party. Lot's of current and former athletes and gawkers (just like me). We saw Jim Furyk, Marshall Faulk, Ben Rothlesburger, and the Bachelor, Jesse Palmer. It was hard to tell how many of the women there were for hire, but it seemed like a good number were looking for a contract, so to speak.

We decided to come back at 11pm; a rare alchaholic good decision and were sound asleep by midnight. I'm told that some of the younger, single guys of our group decided to party through the night and take their chances on getting back. As of 10am, nobody had seen them ;-)

We're about to head to the golf course. It's been cold and rainy so far. Nobody was prepared for this weather. Tonight is the Sports Illustrated party. I'm planning to make this my blow-out night. Should be a good time.

Later.

Wow, have fun blowing out? You get the point...I hope. Sounds like fun at least.

It was a "blow out" but I'm happy that I was a witness to it rather than a puking participant. I'm writing a full account of the trip and hope to post it tommorow. It turns out that we didn't see Ben Rothlesburger, but Scott Zolak, a one time 3rd string QB for New England. More celeb sightings will follow.
